Gauley Season Celebration

The reputation of the Gauley River precedes itself. Intimidating and overwhelming might describe it. Some may say it contains white-knuckle excitement and an adrenaline surge that will top any five-star roller-coaster. Others will say it’s a “rite of passage” like no other on the planet. Truth be told, it’s 7th best on the planet and with ACE as your guide, we believe it jumps up even a few more notches.

Yes, ACE has taken the latest advancements Mother Nature has spent millions of years constructing to offer the Gauley River in 3-D. Barreling waves, boiling hydraulics and towering cliff walls coupled with ACE’s state-of-the-art equipment, veteran guides and the best grilled lunch around make this adventure one for the photo album, Facebook, YouTube and any other form of communication that let’s the world know what you conquered in 2010.


GAULEY SEASON HIGHLIGHTS

No matter what day of the week you choose to celebrate Gauley Season, ACE has something exciting planned on and off the river for all 22 days!

  • Fridays – Catch the Gauley Season tradition here at ACE – “Festive Fridays”! It’s all about a great day on the river and a fun-filled evening of games from Sumo Wrestling to Cornhole.
  • Saturdays – We just made “Sweet” Saturdays at ACE a whole lot sweeter. Hang out by the ACE lake for an evening of live entertainment that is sure to get your foot stompin’, ruckus rompin’ and mind blowin’.  Good vibrations will be had by all.
  • Sundays – If you plan on rafting on Sunday, you’re automatically entered to participate in the “Surfin’ Sunday Film Fest Competition”. We’ll be looking for the best paddling team (judged by your video boater) to win a one-of-a-kind t-shirt only available to “Surfin’ Sunday” competitors.
  • Mondays – Start your work-week navigating all 23 miles of the Gauley Canyon with more than 75 named rapids. It’s TWO FOR THE PRICE OF ONE when you take the “Marathon Monday” challenge!
MARK YOUR CALENDAR
  • 9/10 – Gauley Season Opening Day – the excitement has been building for a full year! Be the first on the river in 2010.
  • 9/18 – Gauley Fest  – the largest river festival in the world featuring live music and dancing, a whitewater marketplace, silent auction and festival foods. It’s a great way to support our nation’s rivers.
  • 10/1 – Gauley is Heating Up – as the lake feeding the Gauley River drops, the water gets warmer. It starts to draw off the surface of the lake which is up to 15 degrees warmer. It may be officially fall, but on the Gauley, we’re cranking up the heat!
  • 10/11 – Columbus Day – celebrate the discovery of America by hitting the big-water waves of the New or Gauley rivers. Makes perfect sense to us!
  • 10/16 – Bridge Day – Come watch it rain BASE jumpers in the New River Gorge. Raft with ACE for all the front-row action at Fayette Station rapid.
  • 10/17 – Gauley Season Finally – This is your last chance to get a Gauley fix until 2011.
